Let’s learn more about SiriusXM radio! While many refer to it as Sirius or XM, the company and its radio service today is formally known as SiriusXM (“SXM”) since the merger of the two back in 2008 and the integration of the radio platforms a few years after that.
Our new Subaru vehicles with the 11.6-inch touchscreens come with a free trial of SXM’s newest service, 360L. It is their most advanced platform yet. SXM requires an active, paid subscription after the 4-month free trial. During your trial period, SXM will undoubtedly reach out to you with special discount offers! Traditionally SXM offered two types of music services on two different platforms. Your car radio received the traditional satellite radio stations. Using the SXM mobile app or Internet web site, SXM also offered streaming channels called Xtra channels. Under the 360L platform, all of their programming whether by satellite or by streaming is available through your car radio. That more than doubles your in-vehicle listening choices. You can tell by the symbol whether you are on a traditional satellite channel or a streaming channel. There are also the archived On-Demand programs, previously only available on the app as well, for even more options. And you can search by voice for a particular song or artist and the results will tell you which SXM station is more likely to play it.
SXM offers a wide variety of music channels, of course. But there is also an abundant selection of general information, politics, news, entertainment and sports channels too. SXM also provides the Travel Link service in our cars. Featuring weather, gas prices, weather alerts, stock prices and sports scores, Travel Link is available on a 4-month free trial. But on vehicles equipped with the onboard TomTom Navigation, Travel Link® is included for three years.

In full disclosure, I have been a subscriber to SXM in all my Subaru vehicles since 2014 and in my earlier non-Subaru car going back to 2008. I was once featured in a shoutout on SXM’s 60s Channel when a Love-Encore customer who happened to be friends with one of their morning on-air personalities shared my enthusiasm for SXM with him. Lithia Subaru and I were name-dropped live on the channel!

The Oregon City Parks Department Summer Concerts in the Park wound down in August. We hope you were able to attend one. Looking forward again to next year!

Speaking of music, we were the Main Stage sponsor at the Annual Oregon City Porchfest. Lots of great music and entertainment not only on our stage but throughout the McLoughlin District as well. It was a wonderful day of community involvement. As the evening progressed on both nights, the main stage area was a-jumping for sure! Love Promise Champion David Meltzer enjoyed “working” at this event for sure!

We wrapped up Subaru Loves Learning Month in August, just in time for Back to School. Thanks to those who wrote some wishes for the students and teaching staff at our partner school Gaffney Lane Elementary here in Oregon City. We will be presenting that book to them, along with funds that will enable them to purchase some needed school supplies.

Early this month, we were one of the sponsors of Oregon City Pride held at the Clackamas Community College. Here’s Love Promise Champion David Meltzer (he sure gets around!) with Lisa Halcom, one of the event planners. Lisa also works for LoveOne, a social services agency here in Clackamas County that we also partner with.

Each of our Subaru dealership employees brings to us interesting and diverse backgrounds and life experiences. And with about 75 of us, that’s a wide range. Let’s meet one of our newest team members who joined us in July. In his own words, here’s Sales Consultant Christian Roberts.
"Hi, I’m Christian Roberts, and I’ve been working in auto sales for about a year now. I originally graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in science and was on the path toward a career in the medical field. But along the way, I discovered a real passion for auto sales and decided to follow that new direction — and I couldn’t be happier with the choice. One of the things I love most about working for Subaru is how much the company genuinely cares about every customer, and all the amazing things we do to support the community and protect the environment.
Outside of work, I stay pretty active. I have two cats, Leo and Bonnie, and a dog named Brodie who keeps things lively at home. In my free time, I love playing golf, basketball, and ice hockey. I’m a huge sports guy, and you can always catch me during the weekends rooting for the Oregon Ducks and the Seattle Seahawks. Whether I’m helping someone find the right vehicle or spending time doing what I love, I’m always striving to bring positive energy and make meaningful connections.”

Maybe you’ve seen the acronym HEART in our dealership or in writing before and wondered what that was all about?

The HEART Pillars-as they are officially called-are our commitment to you as customers as part of the Subaru Love Promise. We strive to adhere to each of these 5 pillars during our interactions with you whether it’s before you buy or lease your car, after the sale, and during your ownership. Our goal is to apply the HEART Pillars at every touchpoint along the customer journey to create what we call Love Promise Moments.
Did you have an exceptional Love Promise Moment? Did someone here go above and beyond to address your needs or express a unique act of kindness perhaps? We’d love for you to share it with us. And with the public. Submit a Love Promise Story here. Each month Subaru of America selects from the submissions to post on our site.
