Preventing Salt Corrosion

One of the side effects of snowy winter weather is an excess of road salt that may accumulate on your car. This can have a serious impact on your car's performance if not taken care of in a timely manner.

The reason why road salt can be so dangerous for the exterior of your car is that it can corrode the paint if left unattended over time. This may cause rust to form, which could ultimately damage the mechanical components of your car. Rather than waiting to deal with the damage at that point, it is best to have your car waxed and protected before winter starts.

While it is important to wash the road salt off your car as soon as reasonably possible, you must be careful not to attempt washing the car while the temperature is below freezing. Once the weather warms, keep your car washed at regular intervals to prevent damage.
